Today's Must See Music Video: Donny Hathaway

I first heard the song, "Jealous Guy," when John Lennon recorded it sometime before his death in 1980. I actually thought it was an original of his. Turns out, it wasn't. Here is a 1972 recording of "Jealous Guy" by Donny Hathaway.
UPDATE: a reader has correctly pointed out that Lennon recorded the song in 1971, and it was an original. Hathaway's version is the cover. Ooops.

  1. That is Lennon's song from his 1971 album Imagine. It featured another song for our time, "Gimme Some Truth". Get it, and you'll know why Nixon sent the FBI after him and wanted to deport and/or jail him. They hated, and felt threatened by his anti-war, pro-peace and love message.

It would have been likely Lennon would have been assassinated by Reagan or Bush thugs eventually.

  2. Kudos for getting me on that one. I thought the track came from one of the posthumous Lennon collections that surfaced after his death.

    November 1980 Reagan gets elected.
December 1980 John Lennon is murdered. What a dark period for America and the world.

  3. Looks like we are still in that dark period...
