There has been a very steady stream of shows in the last couple of weeks (I missed Tuesday's Silver Jews / Monotonix show, but I know the Israeli band has been banned from future performances at The Waiting Room due to their pyromania), and the shows just keep on coming. Tonight the identical twin duo,
Tegan and Sara are performing at Sokol Auditorium (
video). The gals' latest album,
The Con, is quite good and one of the openers,
Girl In a Coma, is also cool. Don't know anything about the other opener.
Tickets are kinda pricey at $25.

Saturday, indie rocker
Ben Kweller returns to Omaha for a show at
Slowdown.
Tickets are $15, but they go up on the day of show. Sunday night rock lovers are facing a tough choice. First off,
my show is on the air at 9 pm. But if you are going out, you have two great show opportunities. At
Slowdown is the return of Seattle's
Minus the Bear. Opening is the excellent Raleigh, North Carolina band,
Annuals (
tickets). Over at
Waiting Room is stoner metal gods,
High On Fire (
tickets).
If you still have any energy left, San Francisco band
Deerhoof hits Slowdown (
tickets) on Monday the 13th. Tuesday fins the Canadian musical collective
Broken Social Scene playing at
Slowdown (
tickets) along with new
Saddle Creek signing,
Land of Talk. Rapper
MURS hits
Waiting Room (
tickets) on Wednesday in support of his new CD,
Murs For President. This guy is always entertaining.
Not sure if I'll be able to hit all of them, but no one can say that there are no good shows coming to Omaha these days.
